My family and I
My name is Vanessa Falcony, born and raised in my beloved Quito, Ecuador, in South America, and a native speaker in both, Spanish and English. My mother and siblings were all born and raised in the USA and my father was born and raised in Ecuador, but lived many years in the USA. They decided to make a big change and moved to Ecuador, where two years later, I was born. Raised in a bilingual home, immersed in two very different cultures, and influenced by educators in my family, my passion has always been languages and their unique worlds.
I hold a Linguistics and Translation degree from Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), as well as a CELTA teaching certificate from Cambridge University, England. In addition, I have a Life Coach certificate. I have 20+ years experience in teaching language acquisition in English and Spanish to many culturally diverse people. I've put my knowledge and practice in the various countries I've lived in as well and to different age groups. I have lived in Colombia, Italy, Ecuador (later on back again after marriage), Chile, and now the USA. Having taught people of all ages from different countries and having lived abroad in different environments have positively widened my understanding of the world, cultures, traditions, languages, and of language acquisition. I have to say I am truly fortunate of this great opportunity life has given me.
I am happily married to an extraordinary educator and we have two wonderful daughters. My husband and I are raising them to be bilingual in English and in Spanish. As a bilingual family, we enjoy swapping languages and we are playful with them at all times, in all circumstances of each and every day.
My BabyLingua is a dream that officially began in 2015 while living back again in Quito, my hometown. However, my real hands-on intimate practice began in 2013 with my first daughter, starting while pregnant, after birth and on, analyzing day by day her growth in all aspects of language in English, Spanish, and Italian (we were in Italy at the time). Before my second daughter was born, I decided to begin on My BabyLingua journey in 2015. Everything I've learned in my career and all the incredible experiences I've had in this path have allowed me to put it all into practice with my own girls. It's been amazing to observe how much good it's done to them. They're the reason My BabyLingua exists.
I launched My BabyLingua in Ecuador and worked with a few families and their newly born babies, aiding them in this language process. I visited them in their homes and observed how they interacted with their baby and with language. We worked together for a few months, and then unfortunately we had to stop because we moved to Chile. These parents gained a lot of knowledge and they put it all into practice with their babies.
I want to dedicate my life to guiding parents and their children with this incredible world of language. I want to transmit to you this love and passion I have for languages, in hopes of passing it onto your own family. I know we can make our children have a better life, a more prepared future, and live in a better world. Isn't this what every parent wants for our special little ones?
